The Decision

The first road bike my husband and I bought was a Yamaha FZR 1000 we bought it from a friend of hisand it was our little escape. When the boys were at school and Skip would be on his days off from work, we would go for a ride out to have lunch. It wasn’t just the riding that was enjoyable, it was the whole experience, the smells of food as we rode through a town, it was the smell of the salty air as we rode past the ocean, it was the warm wind racing past us as we rode in the summer and the windy roads.

Kawasaki ZZR 250, Yamaha FJR 1300, female rider, Kambah, Canberra, Canberra riders

I enjoyed being on the back of the bike but always wanted a bike of my own! it wasn’t until years later that I would get the chance to take my learners test and start riding. Now that I have…. it’s a little strange being on the back of the bike.

The decision to get my learners wasn’t the hard part, it was the thought of putting family first and always thinking of other things that need doing before allowing myself to get a bike. Once the decision was made there was no looking back and now I ride most weekends now. The one thing that was really nice is that my sister and I went for our learners together.
